    I'll have around 12k + in the summer and I want to get at least a 95/96 GSR but i've seen alot of them around latly and I was wondering how much would a Type-r run me, and i know there are select years that they were made. could someone list those for me?

    97-2001
    Im Canadian, well sometimes in seattle but mostly in Vancouver so I dont know the American colours. In Canada, all our Type-R's were all CW except for 2000 with the PY.

    Used, Canadian are around $21,000-$30,000

    here's my totally overkill story of the history of the Type-R



    1997 - old front end...the headlighthousings are more recessed, and ppl kept complaining about snow buildup and stuff like that, so they revised it for 1998 +. The space where the intercooler would go, if u want a front mount, has a nice horizontal line. The 98+ teggies dont have that horizontal line. Also in 1997, there was no A/C and no rear windshield wiper or nozzle. A/C was not standard, but available as an option.Offered only in Championship White. THe shiftknow was not titanium like on the 2000 and 2001 models, which look like this:


    1997 and 1998 shiftknobs look like this:


    in 1998, the revised front end came out. Also, a windshield wiper and sprayer came out with the car. A/C was still not standard, but available as an option.


    In 1999, there was no type-r in the US, but Canada and other countries still received them.


    2000/2001 models are identical. They have the revised front end, titanium shift knob, A/C standard, washer/nozzle, wheels were now gunmetal gray instead of champ white like in 97/98. in 2000 the colors were Pheonix Yellow and Flamenco Black pearl.

    2001 is the same, except the black is now Nighthawk Black pearl, a very dark blue that looks black unless u stare close at the paint u can see the specks of blue.

    Also, i do believe that the 00/01 also has a revised intake cam due to stricter (obd2 version 2) emissions, so the cam duration is supposedly the same as the CTR (243 degrees duration, compared to 240 for itr cams)
    The 97/98 ITR's have 240 duration cams.

    that concludes the history of the type-r in the USA. There will be a test next week.

    oh yeah 97's are very rare, and most owners (who know what the car is) probably wont sell

    anyway


    97-98s i've seen as low as 14...so say 14-17 K range

    00-01's say 19-22 K range

    so am i better off trying to find a 98 vs a 97?

    A kid in my class just got a 93 teg this week. I asked him what type of teg did u get and he goes huh?...then i go know you... LS..GSRs and he goes oh i don't know. Kinda pisses me off.

    ok so this is gonna sound kinda lame but I have a 89 Ls that kinda like but would rather have somethin way better. what I'm gettin at is should I even spend the money to speed it up or dump it.

    they're the same car...the 97 is *slightly* ligther but it doesnt really matter.

    as far as better...better for what? drag racing? its hard to make such a heavy car go "fast"...dump 5-8 grand it in, you'll be running 12's (NA)...but why waste such a good track car for the drag strip :sad:

    if u want something fast in a straight line, look elsewhere cuz this isn't ur best option...

    if u want a good auto-x/track car, then pick up an ITR...insurance is high ,and chances of theft are REALLY high tho, so watch out.

    I just ment better as in... is the 97 so rare that it will be more expensive than the 98. So would I be better of money and time wise looking for a 98.

    Or could I go gs-r and do jdm conversions to it?

    Actually i'm pretty sure I can't offerd a type-r :mad:

    As of right now...I have a sh*tty 95 Accord 6cyl. I've put a little bit of money into it. Performance wise...All I got is a Performance intake, exhaust, plugs, wires, and a Venom Control Module. What are some low cost ways of squeezing a few more hp from my engine?

    advance your ignition timing to the "advanced" side...say stock specs is 16 +/- 2 degress, then advance it to 18

    weight reduction (ditch any shit u have in the car)
