For 12k, I'd get a '90-up 300zx turbo. 280hp stock! You can get that thing to around 390-400 hp (flywheel of course) for around $2000.

Eclipse GLX?? I think you mean GSX.

Celica GT is better for turboing. If you more power out of the box get the GTS.

Integra GSR doesn't need anything mentioned. Everyone already knows they are badass.

I ment GSX but I was just thinking about Jettas and the GLX model came into my head when i wrote it down.

I don't like civic HATCHES no mater how nice they performce I can't stand a civic hatch. So to hate on them but I will never own one.

That's an understandable opinion. It is kinda annoying seeing them every 5 seconds.

its not the same as goign fast in a car. Its a cheaper thrill. Still fun as hell and i like bikes a lot but still isnt the same. Im sure other riders will agree.

But yeah you have a valid point, they are fast, just not the same...

you can very easily find a turbo 300 for 12,000. look around. i know someone with one that had a kaminari body kit nakayama exhaust, a stillen intake, and some kinda wheels wrapped with toyo proxes that he was sellin for like 10-11. but he not anymore. but do remember youre going to have to pay insurance for the car too. and i looked into it a bit and yeah the car is quick 15.0 stock (roughly) but its not worth the insurance. if you want to get a nissan get a newer 240 and drop an sr20det in it. then youll have a turbo and all and that with some basic mods will be one quick car.

DON'T turbo a celica gts. too high compression..

...i'd DEFINATELY go with an EG hatch & an H22A or H23A1 swap..

..just my $.02

300 ZX would be fatty but the only ones that cheap are usually salvage titles. Civic HB with the B18C is the best for the money. Ever hear of going to college with your money

I gotta agree with him on this one. A 5.0 Mustang will smoke any import, be it Honda or Nissan 300ZX. I think it looks nice too and ur getting a good deal for ur dollar.

UH NO. You can find 300ZX for 5,000. There are multiple models and it's called a 2+2. It has a back seat and no twin turbo. The hardest to find are the convertables. Turbos haren't that hard just none that are under 130,000 miles. My friend is searcing for one and we found a lot, but they're either Auto or Turbo and he wants a 2+2.

Becasue most people buy a commuter car (a civic, accord) or a wanna be sports car (prelude, celica, etc.) add an airfilter and a loud ass resonator and they thinnk they are the shit.

Most poeple here's goal is to go fast... what's easier making afast car fast or a slow car slightly faster..

If u got a 10s civic props to you... yo may be the hot shit after pissing away 20k into it... but then look at what you COULD have had if u actually bought a real sports car ( and V8, awd 4cyl turbos, some v6s) it really is no comparison.

LOL! A snowplow?! A notch usually weights 2900lbs-3100lbs. GTs are 3200lbs. Vert are fucking 3500.

Get your shit straight! Your integra weighs 2800lbs but when your fat ass gets inside it's probably around 3100lbs. So you shouldn't be talking about a stang being a snowplow.

Also I am on this board so I can see what sorts of clever high-tech power innvations (such as stickers, spoilers, funny colored airfilters) are hot right now so I can avoid getting into a race with an import and getting my "old fashioned push-rod V8 ass" wasted.

Also let alone Japanese parts manufacturers, nearly the same # of American parts companies support Imports as the # that support Dumbestics (not that any are worth anything, well maybe JG and NOS). Why is that?
Skunk2
AEM
Moroso
Matrix
Jackson Racing
JG Edelbrock
NOS
Tenzo
Borla
Thermal
DC Sports
MSD
Nology
Crane Cams
ZEX
VENOM
B&M
Holley
Airmass
Magnaflow
Bosal
APC
Hmmm. I still like GReddy and HKS better though.

you're pretty funny, i happen to weigh in at a big, fat-ass 165 lbs. @ 5'11". no matter how you slice it, my car is light and quick & you, my friend, are displacing your own weight issues.

A stock Si doesnt beat a Stang GT

A stock SI could beat a stang GT if the stang started in reverse by mistake. No offense to civic drivers but a factory-tuned V8 vs. a factory de-tuned four cylinder... sigh. I used to be big into domestics, until I got my Integra. Now I won't go back. I like the combination of acceleration and reliability that I get with an import versus the choice of getting one or the other with a domestic. Yeah, I may get smoked by them right now in the drags (I haven't modded mine out very much yet) but I don't go to drag tracks. I'm an autocrosser and with the realignment of classes in SCCA 2 I now have to race stock V6 Mustangs. I was so worried about that until I blew one away at the first race of the year (over 2 seconds on a 43-second course). Personally, I think an import is the way to go. Acceleration, turning ability, braking power, and a car that will start up every morning. But, to each their own.

Now I have no hatred for domestics ( cause I had one=camaro) but all this shit about buying 5.0 camaro, stang what ever is stupid. This is for one simple fact yea a stock 5.0 what ever is faster than most imports out there but they also cost a shit load more. Lets break it down. Pontiac Trams Am Ws6 retails for like 26 to 34 thousand. Yea this car can run a in the 13's stock. Well it should if you spend that much money. Now on the other had say a civic si ran you from 17- 19 new correct me if I am wrong. yea it runs in the low 16's to high 15's stock not the greates but okay. well that 10 to 12 thousand saved on the civic can get that car into the 12's. And then the money that is saved in the insurance from v8 vs. 4 banger can do even more. So my thing is yea you can go out and pay for a big 5.0 or what ever run good times but yea that is because it should. Or you can buy lot cheaper car and make it as fast or not faster than a that big exspensive 5.0

Deepspeed
04-13-2002, 02:56 AM
oh yea and adam i hope you like being broke with that High ass car payment and insurance. If you want to rip on imports go to the domestic forum or some were else.
