They called today, saying that its gonna go up from 3400 to 4000 per year. Reason = all rates are going up.

No tickets, no accidents

wtf? :x

Yeah it's nuts. Since 911 they have been going up steady. Total BS. It's so bad here that it's the number one topic on the ontario election platform.

its worse here.......

in the paper a couple of days ago there was a guy who had a car which he bought for $1400 bucks, he has driven for 6 years, with no accidents, no fines, not even a warning and he took drivers ed. he is paying $7000 a year :o

compared to

in saskatchewan there is a guy who has a 94 civic which is souped up, he has gotten in a accident which was his fault, he has 2 fines, 3 warnings, he is only 18, and he didnt take drivers ed........... he pays $750 a year

It's all about medical expenses and liability. There is actually a reason for the extreme insurance variances between provinces. Each province decides how much they are going to be liable for in case of an accident, and how much will be covered by insurance. For example, in ontario, the government is going to pay for all your immediate hospital bills, but the insurance company has to cover any of the extras, ie; loss of income, therapy, rehabilitation etc, whereas before they were just covering the accident lets say. The province decides how much of the financial burden will go to them and how much to the insurance company. In Quebec meanwhile the rates are much lower because most of the liability is covered by the government. One way or another, either through taxes or through premiums, you're going to be the one paying for it.

i pay 100 a month, which is 1200 a year for any of you east coast CDN's. But our inssurance is little different then some places. If you get an accident and it's your fault you will get raped with charges.
