Ever see a car with that cool paint that looks different colors from different angles?... wonder what it would look like on your ride but dont have $10,000 for the paintjob?... now u can photochop the paintjob on your ride to see how it looks...

Ok... Step 1.. you just finished photochopping your ride and its time for a new paintjob... but just recoloring it is boring...

Step 2: As with any other recoloring job, you are going to want to select all of the painted areas of the car...
http://images.geekazoids.net/step2.jpg

Step 3: Once you have carefully gone through the tedious process of selecting everything with the lasso tool, go to LAYER>LAYER STYLE>GRADIENT OVERLAY...
http://images.geekazoids.net/step3.jpg

Step 4: Once in the Gradient Overlay Menu, Choose the spectrum gradient.. its the one that looks like a rainbow...

Step 5: Notice that your car now looks like a gay pride banner not to mention a really fake looking paint job... thats because the opacity of the gradient is too high... adjust it until it looks slightly more realistic and slightly more heterosexual...

Step 6: Well.. you are done.. time to click ok and admire your work...

And here is the finished product...

NOTE: Try experimenting with the different gradient options for different looks... i went with the spectrum one because it closly resembles the Extreme Rainbow paint option that is available on the Saleen Mustangs

Happy Chopping...

you did a good job with photoshop and all but i personally think that, that rainbow paint theme is ugly as hell. i mean i think it would look ok on a bike or something it just seems like to much color on a car.

its not that more than one thing is selected.. its that the whole painted area of the car is selected (which includes the windows).. then i deselected the window area using the lasso tool (hold ALT to deselect)

^^^that looks pretty good to me... i dont think the gradient needs to be any darker.. it should look subtle and not jump out at you too much :roll_eye:

there are other ways to make it a flip paint job.
once you have the car selected you can go to image>adjust>replace colour.
change it to selectio if its on image.
then using the syringe tool click on the car and the selction you choses will appear white in the box.
then use hue/saturation/ and brightness to change the look.
takes a while to make the right selection so that it doesnt look unreal.
i'll post up in a minute what i mean.
