The fucking guy who is escalating the war in Afghanistan and about ready to start a new war with Iran won the Nobel Peace Prize? Are you shitting me?!

This further solidifies the fact that the Nobel prize has become a worthless political tool for validating establishment figures. It's definitely why Paul Krugman won

FYI the final date for nominations was February 1. Obama was inaugurated on January 20. That means he either chartered for peace in the months leading up to his inauguration or the committee felt that his actions in 2 weeks were worth the award.

Also, chew on this...Ghandi was never awarded the Nobel peace prize and he's the model for peace and non-violence. What did Obama do to deserve this award that one of the greatest pacifists the world has known could never achieve?

In my opinion, he hasn't done shit to justify winning this award. The only thing he has done really is put the country into more debt and threw no one in jail for fucking up the country...... Well deserving of a Nobel Peace Prize when parts of the country are beyond pissed at him

If they feel he deserved it, then it's theirs to give away. The cut off date for submission was two weeks after his inauguration. What did he actually do in the first two weeks? If they gave it to him next year, that might be better.

When Jimmy Carter won, it was for a very specific cause: brokering the Camp David peace treaty. Same with Clinton: he brokered the Good Friday peace accords that effectively ended the violence in Northern Ireland. That's why he was nominated.

Obama won for ....being Obama. Another example of the Obama cult of personality.
