I have a 91' Accord that has had the Driverside window blow up on me twice in 2 weeks. It use to get caught off track and i would fix that, but a popping noise would happen when i rolled it down. After the first explosion i had a new window and rotar put in, but this weekend (4 days after it got fixed) i heard that lout pop, then the next time i rolled it down. Boom!! glass everywhere. What is causing this popping noise and making my window blow up on me? There is no body damage on the door. pretty funny if it doesn't happen to you. Thanks everyone.

I am having the same problem. The window is definitely catching on the track on the door. I think it is bindin on the actual metal track. Thoughts anyone?

I replaced three window regulators so far and I am NOT mechanically inclined. But I have noticed why they stop working: the cable guides break. If you know how to weld, it would be easy to make the guides stronger. But not too many of us are that able, so we either replace them ourselves or have a shop do it. If done right, when the window is put back in, nothing should be in the way to give it so much push or resistance that it breaks. But you said "explosion" as in boom boom. I don't know but since a motor is the source of making the cable move thus moving the "scissor like" regulator thus moving the window (miss hand crank?), that would be the first place to make sure it is 100% new or at least someone knows the used one had no problems at all. Could the motor be blowing due to a fuse? Could a electrical wire be tangled that when the window regulator moves it causes a rip and spark? Is this on a window that was the original or is it from a fixed one? Hope you find the source.

I would suspect the window run channel (rubber guide for window to move in) is damaged and allows window to jam. Window mounting nuts could also be loose allowing window to shift slightly and jam.
Fix is to remove door panel, remove window, and remove regulator. I would replace the window run channels unless you are sure they are good. Lube w/ light coating of silicone grease on the run channel. Reinstall window insuring all fasteners are aligned and tightened securely. good luck
