A friend of mine just bought a Evo X and is trying to get rid of his eclipse, his eclipse is a 1998 GSX (yes the AWD) 167000 miles with faded black paint, and needs a new clutch. I looked at the car and tested it. I was going to buy a new car, but he is offering me this for $2000. What you guys think?

Are you serious? That's a good deal. A great deal. You could buy that car and turn around and sell it for $5000-$6000. GSX's are rare now. I say jump on it. Of course, I will go ahead and tell you, have fun with crankwalk.

is it all origional, a lot of the 2G's have already cranwalked and the 6 bolts engines are already in there, not all 2G's crankwalk BTW. I've also seen 6 bolt engines crankwalk, my 90 GSX crankwalked thats what i'm dealing with it right now.
But yes thats DEF a good deal, jump on it, put a clutch in it and a painjob and you got yourself a pretty nice car just check underneath and see what kind of rust issues it has

Premature wear of the Thrust bearing causing excessive movement of the crankshaft. In the slightest it'll throw off your crank position sensor. On the worst note it'll grenade your motor (like it did mine)

$2000 is cheap. For an extra $750, you can throw a 90-92 6 bolt in there, and never worry about crankwalk.

we just had a customer in our shop with a 97 lude . you could literally watch the crank pulley walk away from the timing cover and then back to it while the car was running. usually this is related to thrust washer wear.

pick that up..great deal there..deff invest in a 6 bolt though..all together after the car and motor your looking at like 3000-3500 for a nice quick car..i had a 98 GSX, also was getting to the point of needing a clutch and had around 140k miles on it..recently put it up for sale at 3500 and sold it 2 days later, so 2000 is a great price IMO
