I moved my battery to the trunk in my ek this past weekend. The way its wired up is the same as it was under the hood. The two 8ga wires (one from fuse box and one from alternator) go into a splitter into a 4ga that goes to the trunk. There is a fuse in the 4ga line under the hood and one where it comes into the trunk. That 4ga goes directly to the battery terminal then a 4ga comes off the terminal and goes into the 15-farad stinger cap. Now, the cap has an audible beep when it turns on. When the car is just idle, no sound, but when I am accelerating that audible beep is not as loud but it's like a hum and it gets louder as the rpms get higher. Like I said, all the wires are connected to the battery the same, it's just now in the trunk. Any ideas on how to get rid of the sound????....
O yea, the cap has the correct voltage at all times too.

the hum coming from a sub or all the speakers. are the speakers that are humming wired to an aftermarket amp? sounds like you have a bad ground and possibly rcas on the same side as the power wire

The hum is coming from the cap, it's not coming from the speakers. It's the beep sound that it makes when it turns on. Hifi sound said it was a ground loop (ground somewhere without metal to metal contact). All the grounds have metal to metal contact now and I still get the sound.

how did you run your power wires for the 2nd battery?
did you run them anywhere near any signal (rca/speaker) wires? |

First off, if you would have read carefully I stated that I MOVED my battery to the trunk, I DID NOT ADD A BATTERY. THE SOUND IS COMING FROM THE CAPACITOR!!!! THE SOUND IS NOT COMING FROM THE SPEAKERS!!!! I hope we are clear now. Yes the power cable coming into the trunk is near a rca cable, but it has ALWAYS been that way and no sound in the past.
The cap is the Stinger SHC5015.

But to solve your problem, remove the capacitor. There is no need for one, its not doing anythign for you, well except making noise. So emliminate the noise....

caps don't really do anything for you. they're just jewelry for your system.. bling bling. You mentioned that you moved your battery to the trunk, you didn't say if you upgraded your wiring from before, or if you ran the cable on the other side of your battery or anywhere near your rca cables. this is called trouble shooting. we're trying to figure out the cause of your problem by eliminating variables so we can get to the root cause of your issue in order to remedy it. if you choose to be a dick to our questions, I won't help you.
I made this post a few years ago, you might want to try this out. it does pretty much the same thing as your pretty pretty cap. http://hondahookup.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96112 |

Not trying to be a dick, but I think it's stupid if someone asks a question that has already been answered.
Anyways, the power cable coming from the engine bay is not near any rca cables anymore. The rca's I have are supposed to be shielded anyways (streetwires). Now the power cables coming from the cap to the amps are near the rca's. But the sound is coming from the cap. All my grounds are good, and all connections are tight. Like I said, everything is hooked up the same except the battery is in the trunk now. The cable that goes from the battery to the cap is A LOT shorter than it was before, maybe that has something to do with it All power and ground cables are 4ga, and always have been. What do you mean when you ask "if you ran the cable on the other side of your battery"? I can take some pics if that would help.
