Default engine cutting out

i have a 96 eclipse rs and when i start going through the gears my car will whats seems to cut out and lose power for a second and i can hear the engine kinda get loud through the cold air. i figure its the fuel pump or hoses cause under normal driving conditions it does fine. any help would be greatly apricicated... spelled that wrong.

Sounds like a vacuum leake to me, check for cracks or punctured vacuum hoses, fuel problems are different, machine wont start or lose power when you are acceletating

Where does a fuel pressure regulator get it's reference vacuum/boost from? A leak there will cause ALL kinds of havoc on fuel pressure-ESPECIALLY UNDER BOOST!
