    awd
pros - traction, 60' times, better handling.
cons - broken axles, slower top end.

    fwd
    pro - higher top end
    con - no traction

depends on what your into, if your building a track car for 1/4 times or if ya mostly play on the highway fwd 4 sure, but if your like most people and just do some quick light to light racing, that awd launch can be the key to beating cars you shouldnt be able to beat.

a gst or a tsi is generally slightly faster then a gsx or a tsi awd in the 1/4, it depends on how much money he is willing to invest, im making the assumption that he is not rich.

plus with fwd you have less to worry about breaking.

Actually FWD is faster, If not in the 1/4 then top end wise but i've seen a few FWD's running very good times at the track, set of slicks and a diff, they can hook up real well.

not to mention less moving parts, and less to worry about breaking.

go to the Shootout this year and count how many guys are running respectable times with a FWD setup. Even guys making big power with FWD are spinning the whole way down the track, and they are breaking stuff too. Ya, there's a handful of guys running good times(kiggly, Smithey) but look at how much power they are making then look at an AWD car with the same power and compare their ET's. Traction is your friend.

yeah i say the AWD but if you had slicks and could actually hold the power to the ground then theorticly the fwd would win stock vs slicks

The AWD will have better 1/4 mile times. Will handle MUCH better. Wil get traction MUCH faster. It will lose some top end.
Please disregard all of my posts.

Get drag radials and get the fwd. I have a awd and its fun but not every race is from a stop. :D

Do not listen to this guy he knows nothing about DSM's...

GSX's and TSi AWD's when equally modded are ALWAYS faster in the 1/4mile.... I've had both, and have modded both extensively... I wouldn't think twice about it.... AWD.

FWD and Power = Torque steer and crap acceleration.

People are idiots. After the launch awd cars suck. Yes i have had both. AWD have no top end .

FWD are not great either . God damn torqe steer . Traction sucks. I spin in 3rd. Up top they pull like like a mutha. Wayyyy better than awd.

    Again i speak from experiance.

1/4 mile --awd ownz fwd all day long

1/2 mile and beyond -- fwd will ownz awd all day

I can spin 2nd 3rd and chirp 4th and occasionally 5th in my Escort. Ah the beauty of FWD. But yeah if it's anything past the quarter and like a half mile or mile then FWD is going to rob less power. But it doesn't necessarly mean that FWD is better in that situation. If you have a decent amount of power it won't matter much.
