Thread: Timing Belt Area oil leak

Default Timing Belt Area oil leak

My 96 Civic EX Vtec developed an oil leak 8 months after replacing the timing belt, water pump and seals.
Thought for sure it must be the crank seal, but upon removing the covers and pulley I am not so sure. With the crank pulley off i want to start it and see where the leak is coming from but am unsure how tight the crank pulley bolt needs to be. I for sure cant tighten it to spec without putting the pulley back on, which may get it the way of seeing the leak. It usually leaks within a couple of minutes at idle, so it does not have to run for long.

I am looking for any comments from anyone who has done this. i sure dont want to ruin my motor..
