SVO Manifold on D-Series motor.

One of my buddies friends was telling me this. For the record before everyone starts to make fun of me I don't believe him but i'd like to know for sure. He said that the Ford SVO Turbo Manifold would bolt up to a D-Series motor. From the older Turbo 4-Cylinder Mustangs and Thunderbird's. If it were true that'd be neat, I could go to a junkyard and get a manifold, which would be a lot better than an Ebay one. However, I just don't think that it would work. Any one know for sure?

None of those will survive in a turbo manifold. The highest rated locktite is 350c

I have and use resbond. Its rated to 1200c.

I could send you some but id have to charge 10 bucks plus post because its nearly 200 for a small bottle.

Looks like.. Just get one from the yards and have it match ported to your head.. Probably better option.. And cheaper one would assume..

multifit will be for cast iron head. id also just do the machining of the mating faces and file out the mounting holes till they fit.people have used a J pipe off the stock manifold with success so any manifold is probably better than that.

ive tried the regular header paint and it just turns like a powder color and starts looking shitty. thats what i have now i just have header wrap all over it lol.

That header paint works great, if done correctly- Its much harder to do on a turbo manifold, because of the time it take to mount it back up and get everything hooked up so you can start it to help cure it- Wrap is a great way to go, no doubt. And if your header is glowing...... Id go with the wrap and Id check out how hot you are running that motor too

Regrind cams sounds fine to me. Ill do those, springs, and possible port and polish. I am interested in the golden eagle manifold, what tb flange options are there?

Not sure if youll need to remove the top mount intercooler, but RacerX, Full Race, and Doc Racing all make manifolds for the gen3 motor. Be warned...itll cost you

Yeah i thought the 3rd gen bolt pattern was different to the 2nd gen, but no worries always pays to ask before you buy,

Anyone know of a aftermarket manifold for the 3rd generation 3sgte, that will work with out removing the top mount intercooler ?

Just curious if anyone have information on the pros and cons of these two itake manifolds for a forced induction setup. Does the SE manifold offer any benefit over the 99 running moderate boost up to aroud 1 bar?

Thanks guys. I thought the same thing about the alternator. It was Chase04 old stuff for an 03-04 SS I bought in 09 I think. Everything bolted up perfectly. The LSXR manifold has a vacuum nipple out the front left side that interferes w the fairing on the back of the alternator. I think I have a upgraded alternator. Will check. Once I figure out the photo issue Ill post some up.

for it to be a true split pulse manifold the individual cylinders need to be routed so they alternate pulses to each side of the split housing. Thats why I thought you couldnt make a true split pulse with stock exhaust manis, because the routing for a true split pulse is not 123 456 which is how the OE manifolds put out.

To get the weld off and porting/cleaning the inside of a exhaust manifold, i use a Carbide or Tungsten bit on a air powered die grinder.
it cuts it like butter

I lopped the pipes off with a 7" grinder, now Ive been filing for at least an hour on the welds inside the flange.

Is there an obvious easier way Ive overlooked? I have blisters forming.

Not sure why people dont think these manifolds are any good. People have made good numbers with them. Pretty hard to make a log manifold that is any better.*As said, that crack doesnt matter, but would be easily fixed with castcraft rods in an arc welder. They often crack there, but I have never seen an open crack like that usually hairline.*Bolt holes on them seem to be close not to fitting at the best of times. Id be following pro250s advice here.

Run a drill thru the holes so you can get your bolts in and machine the face flat so it seals on the head face

The manifold is just split pulse manifold does it even matter its cracked? just machine the face of it as well and go again if its not leaking. I have a cast manifold on turbo corty I think there rubbish, id just make a log for it cheap as and if it shits itself make another one
