i need help with my system, well i dont have a system but......
i have a 2k1 accord with a stock system. i replaced the stock 6x9's in the rear with alpine three way speakers.
all the rest of the speakers are stock . i want to eventually put a sub in the trunk, i have the sub, the box, and the amp its a kicker zr600. for right now i just want to make the stock shit sound good. im not gonna replace any more speakers just yet. my question is can i buy a small amp to power the stock speakers, so they sound a little louder? how many watt amp would i need, and how many channel amp should it be? do i need a crossover, etc..... please,,,somebody with knowledge of stereo systems help me.
thanks guys

You could get a four channel amp to run all your mids and highs, about 200 watts should run them nice. This way you will be running them at 4 Ohm stereo so be careful you don't buy an amp that says 200 watts, but bridged mono. You could als get a 2 channel and bridge it to 2 Ohm stereo, but you will not have the proper balance and fad. Any questions let me know.

91IntegRs hit it right on. 200 will be plent to run mids and highs. If you want you could always buy a new deck w/ a higher watts output then factory.

4 channel is perfect but make sure the speakers will support the power... otherwise you can blow your speakers quick. I blew my stock speakers in 3 days using the stock head unit.

Don't replace your deck with a high powered one, spend the money on an amp the sound is much cleaner and if your amp has a good crossover then you have nothing to worry about. What I did in the past is turn my deck almost all the way up about 90% and then adjusted the gain and the crossover on the amp to a point where it doesn't distort and there isn't a lot of strain on the speakers. Also make sure the bass and treble on the deck isn't turned up, I left my bass on 0- -2 and the treble at +2.

actually i never really trust the crossover's built into the amp, they don't work half the time and just throw treble through you subs which equals not good. i always recommend to either 1) get a separate crossover-mtx has theirs down pretty good, i see alot of them. 2) get a good enough deck with the crossover built into the sub control. this is what i use with my pioneer deck, it's pretty tight because you don't have to get out to adjust anything. it's right at your fingertips
