View Full Version : Just got a free 15'' sub now i need an amp

i just got a free 15'' Punch sub from a friend. it needs a box which will be 100 bucks, but it also needs an amp. the guys at hi-fi house said it should get a 500/1 punch amp but that is 425 bucks. any suggestions on a lower cost amp that will still give it sufficent power? i think the sub is 2 or 3 years old so don't ask me any questions about it cuz i don't know jack crap about the sub.

You would probably get the best sound for the sub out of a 500w amp. Hit ebay and find something relatively in the same range. Make sure it produces high RMS though. If you want something cheap and semi dependable you can get an xplode amp for like 150, or you can go with something of a lower wattage from Punch for a bit less.

i would recommend kicker amps for anything... i had a kicker 5channel 1500w amp in mah old rex and man... it owned. as ive told this story b4 the guy tested one of em to me b4 i bought it and had 5 12" kicker subs hooked to it... he didnt even crank it and it was loud. kicker is the way to go for amps and subs.

Kicker is as expensive as punch though..... you could get a small zapco which is competition level for 400 or so which is much better than kicker

I have to say that Audiobahn is the way to go. I got a friend who is hitting 140.1 w/ his 2 15' Audiobahn subs and 1 1600 watt Audiobahn amp. And he hasnt even really started with his system.

well, since its a punch sub. . . an RF amp would be a good match for it.. .im sure you can find that amp for alot cheaper though.
