I'm a complete amateur when it comes to bikes. I've never ridden one and I generally don't know much about them. I'm like most people though; I want one. What would be a good "first time" bike to have? I'm in love with the Hayabusa and the R1, but I don't think it would be wise to purchase either of those as my first bike. However, if I did buy the Hayabusa or R1, what do you think the chances are that I would successfully learn how to ride it without wrecking it and possibly killing myself. I'm not sure how big of a role body size plays into matters when deciding which bike to get, but I'm 6'4 and around 175 lbs.

well it also depends on your common sence, but i would say buy a old 250 or 500 streetbike to ride around for a while b4 jumping into the 130+ HP range

it's sorta like saying something like, "ive never shot a gun in my entire life dad, can you buy me an aka 47?" it's not gonna look pretty...nah wait, bad example. it's actually more like "im a virgin, i wanna have sex with jenna jameson." :D

its not the size of the bike. Its the rider that rides the bike.
If you have common sense then your ok. Dont try to show off, dont try to go fast if you dont know how, do try wheelies if you dont know how. (practice with a dirt bike or whatnot to get used to the way u have to balance and amount of throttle, cause if you wreck it wont fuck up ur bike as bad as a street bike would be fucked.)

I have seen ppl that have never ridden a bike and get on a 1100 and crash because they try to show off, and do stupid shit.

Its not only driving thru traffic that you have to watch yourself... its u have to watch others to make sure they see you. Other wise some punk kid in a damn neon with altezza's will htink he is a hot shot weaving in and outta traffic, and the next thing you know your in the hospital getting asphalt removed from ur body. (not good)

I mean if you want to start out with a smaller bike id say a 600 would be ok, but its not gonna matter, cause there is still power in a 600. Its all in how smart you are and how long you wanna live.

Buy my 250. It's a 1999 Ninja 250 with 4100 miles. Very nice looking bike, and very well taken care of. Bike looks mint.

If you're a complete novice when it comes to motorcycles then don't buy anything with much of a fairing; you'll lay it over, don't worry most beginners do hell i did, and end up paying out the ass to replace the plastic pieces. The Suzuki SV650 is a great bike that is pretty easy to ride and there isn't a fairing to mess up. To protect the frame and other vital parts get a few sliders put on and you won't have to worry about paying alot of money fixing beginner mistakes. The SV650 has about 70 hp so you won't be able to keep up with the Gixers and CBRs in a race put you'll be able to pull wheelies much easier :D

I just recently bought my first bike and it is a Kawasaki EX 500. I love this bike it is fairly quick,i thought it was a rocket when i first got it,,it is easey to ride and to learn how to turn and balance on and you can get htem cheap..i paid $1000 for a 1990 with 9k on it.It is a great bike, unfortunetly i got bored with it very quickly but im glad i started with this cuz now i feel comfortable on it and ready for a 600 or a 750 next.
Another good reseason for getting a bike like this is you drop it your not gonna be too worried about plastic and broking it they are pretty cheap to fix if you wanted to but a newer bike thats nicer would suck to drop
