I have 6x9 bostons in my rear on my 2000 civic.
I didn't installed them myself, my friend did. So I'm not sure how hard it was to do.
but 6x9s will fit in either stock or with minor mods to the rear shelf.
on a side note with speakers.
I know putting in my 6 1/2s in the front required me to cut the speaker basket in the door with my demel before the speakers would fit in right, and then I still couldn't get the factory grill over them.
