The 2003 Mach 1 is expected to deliver more than 300 horsepower from its modular (MOD) 4.6-liter, 4-valve, DOHC V-8 engine when it goes on sale at the end of this year. The preeminent pony car remembers its roots with functional performance upgrades and Mach 1 styling cues, including comfort-weave leather seats, a shaker hood scoop and today?s interpretation of classic Magnum 500 chrome wheels.

i love the new mach 1. its good to see ford going back to the rotts of its best muscle car, too bad they are making a limited amount. my dad has a 70 mach 1 with the 351 cleveland not windsor but it still hauls ass. wonder what that race would be like.

The new MOD Mach1 will beat the shit out of the '70 Mach1. The '70 mach1 ran [email protected] for the 1/4. Sorry to break the news to you, but the new technology in cars makes the old theory of bigger is better totally invalid. A SVT Focus runs high 14's with a I4, so I think a 300hp engine would out match your dad's car(which also has 300hp, but that's with open headers and that's the old way of getting hp numbers).

Here are some shots from the NY auto show. Personally I think its ugly, but I bet it's gonna haul ass.
