Don't think you'd laugh if you have friends that've tried to or have killed themselves.

but what you fail to realize is that suicide is the ultimate selfish act. so therefore i show no pity for someone who has done it to themselves.
people who take their own lives are pussies mainly because they dont realize that because they kill themselves they create more grief and sadness than their life could possibly have in it.
i mean im sure it was painful for you to lose a friend and im sorry for that but i dont really have pity for the person who did it to themselves.

You're wrong in saying that I fail to realize that. It is certainly selfish. I know this and have known this. I think there is always a solution to a problem.. but I dont think you have any idea what depression - I mean clinical depression, not some stupid pathetic kind - is like. People like that fail to see that they have other ways out. To them, there is no such thing as hope. Most feel that they are unwanted in the world and that all they do is bring other people down. Not everyone has someone to go to for their problems - in actuality, they do - but because of certain issues such as not being able to trust other people (b/c of bad past experiences, etc.) enough to go to them, or he/she believing that he is only causing harm to others by bringing his problems to them. For the majority of these people, they have to find vices/releases to numb the pain or make it go away. The most common ways are often found in drugs/alcohol/cutting. They get so fucked up on drugs and alcohol that they literally don't know what they are doing and don't remember things. They do it to make it go away, to forget.
Do you really know what it's like? Have you been through this? Ever? How could you know? I'm sure you wouldnt be so easy to insult these people if you had been through it yourself. I agree that it is something selfish, but it takes a strong person to get through some of the problems in this world.
I'm sure you don't know what it's like to have your 58 year old PSYCHOLOGIST coax you into a photography session when you were 16 years old. He knows how to do it because he has been seeing you for 1 year, learning how you work mentally as you tell him your problems.. he knows your limits and by this time he knows exactly what to do. He coerces you by commenting on your looks every session - saying how gorgeous you are, suggesting that you that you wear more revealing clothing. It makes you uncomfortable but you think to yourself "it's just a compliment, dont worry." This is someone you are supposed to trust. So he starts taking your picture every session, eventually it leads into hours at a time, then he starts making you stay after hours... eventually he talks you into taking some clothes off. Tells you to do this to yourself, and that. Videotapes it. I mean, you are a passive girl that was going to this guy for HELP! You don't want to tell anyone, too embarassed, too ashamed. You never stopped because he made you think it was an okay thing to do. He brainwashed you by repeating the same things over and over again and you trust this guy more than anyone in your life. In addition, his wife found the pictures of you, 16 years old, naked and exposed, shot herself in the head. Dead. It's your fault. By the way, his wife was your best friend. He had his wife under his control just like he has you. Made her think she had a choice but she'd be too afraid to say 'no.' You two were so alike.
On top of this, your parents have banned you from your boyfriend that you LOVE with all of your heart. You find out that he has cheated on you with at least 10 other girls and lied to you about it. Your life seems like it's falling apart and you have no one left to care about you in this world. Not your family.. your family was against you. They kept you from the people you cared about. Your psychologist convinced your parents that he's t he greatest guy in the world. They love him. He tells them you would kill yourself any time now (he's lying) and that they need to sign custody over to him. He has you scared out of your mind, saying your parents are going to send you away to the asylum if you do anything wrong. He turns you against your parents to the point that you want to get emancipated.
People get through stuff like that by cutting themselves and/or doing drugs or alcohol. Think that story is far-fetched? Wrong. It is about a friend of mine. It's true.
I am currently studying for a Ph.D. in Psychology.
Goofy_o2, I know you were kidding.
