Im thinking Infinity on the back and Infinity with the tweeters on the front, or just 4 infinity with no tweeters. No amps for now though

I heard infinity's are quite good. What kind of deck do you have and are planning to getan amp and subs?

yea i will get amps and cables when i can afford em, i just need to get away from these facoty speakers for now, im also gonna get a sub later, first thing in my list is speakers, than rims, then c/f hood, then subs and amps,
i like to go slow and not do it all at once

infinity are going for 95 a pair and alpine are goin for 80, im not sure which is better, the alpine tyoe are are goin for $180 and i know they good but too xpensive

Also check out Pioneer, my girlfriend got some for her Civic and they sound nice, if you want some real good sound get a set of seperates up frount, JL Audio makes a good set. I would spend the money for some good front speakers now, and less for the rear.

you deserve a good backhand upside the head for saying anything jensen is good. jensen is a walmart's answer to kmart's generic crap. either get infinity all around(like i have), pioneer, or alpine.

Sony Xplod are only good for Bass and Distortion, nothing else. The clarity on an Xplod system sucks so badly. I've listened to some Boston Acoustics and they are good, very clear. Infinity is supposedly a great brand, but they are rather expensive.

Don't get sony xplode, the suck. I say get boston acoustic, I have them, and both of my bro's have them, and i personally think they are better than any other speaker out there.

I have MB Quarts refrence speakers and i think they sound pretty good for $275/pair. If you want somethign that slams but has decent sound quality i would go with alpine type-r seperates but if you want really clean sound, then i would go with either MB Quarts Qs, or A/D/S (around $400+/pair)

what are you crazy? don't buy worthless xplod crap, go buy some quality speakers, generally in the stereo industry, the higher the price, the higher quality products, don't go with worthless garbage

i'm gettin ready to put in alpine type-r components up front, and the type-r 6x9's in the back, with a nice 4 channel. the shits gonna sound sweet.

MB Quarts are one of the best out there. Pretty expensive though, but the quality, yes, you know it's worth it. If you want to go with the best, go for Memphis. Every Car Stereo Dealer you go to, ask them about Memphis, they'll know. Fuck Circuit City, Best Buy & all that shit. You can't bargain with them.

I recently got my audio started. I went with a new head unit (MP3/CD), Amplipier & 2 12s. Sounds pretty good. My dealer didn't recommend replacing my stock yet, and you know what? he was right, it's still sound good. shop around first. see who can give you the best deal & don't afraid to bargain. :)

You think if they cut $50 from the total price is a good deal? You'll never get a good deal in Circuit City unless you're an employee or you know a pimpled ass faced faggot that works there (like your stupid ass) so shut the fuck up    . My friend got his speakers in CC for his hb, and what a messy wiring job they did. I thought maybe it happens. Then my brother brought his hb and same exact thing. If you like REAL sound systems for your car, don't go to CC. The only top of the line speakers they have for 6 1/2 is Kenwood. At least Best Buy got Cerwin Vega. 8)

how about paying 300 for the alpine component type-r's up front and the 6x9's in the back, installed, when retail it would cost you close to 800. sounds like a deal to me. and the guys that work in the roadshop at my store know their shit and what they are doing. how do u do a messy wiring job when installing speakers faggot, you don't change any wires out. an amp maybe, but not speakers.

i havent heard the alpine typr r's yet. so i was wondering if any of you heard the alpine 6 1/2 inch type r component speakers and if they are good. i know the brand is usually good but yah never know. and what do you guys think of the alpine 7894 head unit. one more thing i have a 4 door teg and about to get a 2 door so i was wondering what are the size of the speakers in that kind of car.

whos the knob who recommended sony... rofl... id recommend kenwood or kicker... kenwood have some nice 7x10 4way 320w speakers which i have owned before and u hook a amp up to them and put about 200w through em u dont even need a sub... basically my install in the CRX was

Kenwood single din flip down cd player with eq and all the extras

a pair of kenwood 6.5" splits with crossovers which could take 200w

a pair of kenwood 7x10" 4way 320w

a single 5 channel kicker amp (set me back $1800aus ($600 us i think)) which could put out about 1200w of power

a single 15" kicker sub in custom install. and that all got me 142db and i didnt even have a capacitor... Kicker seriously own for amps... they gave me a demo of the amp at the store before i bought one and he had 5 12" kicker subs hooked up to it... he turned it up half way and i couldnt even hear him speak... he didnt even crank it... and this is just my opinion.

Doh! Xplod speakers do blow balls..... Get either JL Audio or Memphis if your going competition. If you just want a nice clear sound from your head unit without having to spend tons of money on an amp go with jbl gto's... For the price you pay they are pretty good.... .

I use BOSS Ripper 6 1/2s in the front
and Boston A Rallies 6x9s in the back

and both are very good speakers in my opinion.

Changing speaker wires to a higher guage or setup, gives better signal to the speakers. Some stock speaker wire setups are pathetic. They look like a piece of string but I guess it works with those POS speakers you get with it. Circuit City does have some good car audio equipment. They have a new deck out Alpine CDA-7998 I think it is and Im planning on getting it. :P

Alright check this out. What you need to get are four Boston Acoustic model RX67's they are $149 a pair, trust me they are well fuckin worth it. I had 4 of those fuckers in my old CRX with a 5-channel amp (Alpine 5), and one 10in" JL sub in the back in a power wedge box. Now I got them in my new CRX, and I'm basically going to do the same setup I had in my old CRX. These Bostons are really fucking clear and sharp, and can handle max music power of 160watts, peak input 80watts, and continuous 40 watts. $300 bucks for all four is a bit pricey but they are not crappy speakers well worth it. Everyone that listened to my system was always complimenting me on how clear it was with no distortion even with all the volume cranked all the way. As for a head unit I would narrow it down to 2 head unit brands Alpine and Kenwood. Subs JL, good clear bass. Wiring monster cable. Check out Tweeter electronics, or Circuit City for these Boston Acoustics, you wont regret getting these speakers! :bigwink:

I just installed an Infinity component kit (6/12 door bottom with tweeter up top) and they kick ass. Super clear sound. I have 180 watt kenwoods (3way?) in the rear and the sound is not even half as good. I'm thinking of replacing the rears with infinity even though they're brand new speakers. Xplod sucks. DONT buy an Xplod amp, my cousin has a 700watt one or something like that and it's crap, full of problems.
Also Pioneer is good, my experience with them is they're bulletproof. Sound quality is ok. Or if you really want to go all out, could pimp out your ride with Jensen all around.

My brother has INFINITY KAPPAS all around and they play so clear and loud and crisp with his alpine deck and his former pioneer deck (pioneer was better). They have a whole lot of kick to them as well, you'd think he has a sub. INFINITY ownz all of you.

wow, no kidding, ive heard kappas.....certainly impressive and towards the top....

mtx is definitely the shit tho.....crisp and clear speaker wise, but their subs.....specifically the RFLs :o

4000 watts is as insane as it gets. 4.35 inches of total excursion is just nuts. 56 pounds for a single subwoofer is stark raving mad. What else can we say. You've seen what happens to ordinary subs at SPL competitions. They explode, and they are done for the day. With RFL, if you can blow it up, you can rebuild it. RFL152 comes with a replacement cone and voice coil assembly so you can rebuild it on the spot, at the show. Kind of like a top fueler - you can rebuild her between rounds. Designed, tested and built to handle an extreme 4000 watts of mind-numbing power, this sucker ain't cheap. But, the good stuff never is.

wipe the drool off ur lips boys

pioneer/kenwood = good decks
Pioneer/Infinity/Memphis = Good midranges/components
Memphis, MMATS= Good amps
Memphis, MMATS, JL= Good subs.

Anyone who buys stereo shit at circuit city or best buy deserves a kick in the mouth, they have CRAP there. (minus a few 1700 dollar decks)

I got a pair of front Pioneer TSA-1655 6.5" 35/140W nom/max; and a pair of Rockford Fosgates FRC-3269 6x9" 75/150W nom/max. They do very nicely with the Pioneer DEH1300 receiver/cd player. Now I gotta figure out how to dampen the rattling.

A lot of you are really ignorant. There are many types of people who have varying standards and tastes. Some think a stock 'system' sounds good. If you're about show or just want something a little better than stock then go do your little circuit city, best buy, whatever system.. The adage "you get what you pay for" is accurate in car stereo. Ignorance is bliss, in that you don't know what you're missing out on until you try it. If you're happy with paper speakers on the wall at your car audio/computer/washer and dryer/furnature combo store, so be it....If you're willing to step up you won't be disappointed. MB Quart Q series components cost $900/pair retail. Look on eBay however and you'll find them brand new for $400...Car stereo isn't so bad after all is it?

MB Quart Q series 6 1/2" components in front
MB Quart Reference Premium 6 1/2" Caoaxials in rear
mids and highs ran off a PPI (Precision Power) limited edition chrome 4800 amp.

Driving on the freeway with windows up, friends can hear every word to my music car lengths back.

Have fun..
