I was read C&D the other day and one of the articles was talkin about electromechanical valves the where the valves are controled by a computer and not by a cam so you can so it can control valve timing and all sorts of stuff, anybody else hear about this?

yeah...they us solenoids to control the valves....they are already using solenoids to alter the stroke of the piston in the compressor in AC units as needed to get the most out of it....BADASS 8)

It's called electronic valve timing. It's like optimizing the timing for the whole RPM band instead of high or low.

geez, tuning is going to become very techinal in the near future.

They've been working on it for at least 6-7 years now. It actually sounds like it will be a lot easier to tune your car. Imagine being able to plug and play with an infinate combination of camshafts! Less hassle then having to tear down a motor to swap a cam that hopefully works with your combo. Welcome to the future of high performance! 8)

The future is that everything that is timed will be electronic so it's more exact and infinitely variable.
