correct me if im wrong but i thought the last letter and number on a chassis code was the tranny it came with.. say a d16Z6..b16 is the head and the Z6 is the tranny..and to find out if its a vtec then look for the vtec solenoid...because, again correct me if im wrong, but you could easily swap a z6 tranny into a d16 with a y8 tranny and still keep the V-tec head
