i'm not 100% but i'm pretty sure its impossible, u'd have to make something to depress the clutch for it to work, i've never saw anyone do it nor have i heard of it being done b4

I've seen them, but they're expensive and illegal in most states.

they are very possible, they dont cost a whole lot. my alarm came w/ auto start but the shop wouldnt install it b/c of the 5 speed. all you need is this bypass thing to bypass the clutch it cost about 30 bucks i think its called a css, but i forget right now. but its illegal in almost all the states

Ive heard stories about it starting and someone jamming into first, thereby driving on its own until it hits something. bad stuff.

i dont see anyway on earth how it would "drive by its self" as everyone says. first if you have the parking break on it wont go any where. second it would be like starting your car and forgetting that it was in first and all that happens is it lunges forward and dies

I said I heard stories, I dont know first hand. But i would assume it rolled down a hill it was on.

y is it illegal on 5 spds but not on autos? kinda seems dumb

for the fact that you leave it in gear on accident and try to start it up it will lunge forward and possibly hit someone or something

all you gotta do is take the wire behind the cluch switch and splice it together that way it thinks the clutch is always engaged and you can start the car witout pushin it anymore..ive never done it but i heard thats how to..i plan on doin it to my GFs car in a few weeks when she gets her alarm in....

I HAVE one.
Mine is a starter/alarm combo. How mine works is that in order for the car to start with the remote, it has to be in ready mode first. To put it in ready mode, you park where you want to, put it in Neutral and put the E-Brake on, and then push a button on the remote. Then, once you remove the key, the car will stay running. Once outside and after you get all your shit out, push another button on the remote and the car will turn off. This ensures that the car WILL NOT MOVE if you start it (eg. if it was in 1st gear). Then walk away, come back whenever, and it will start and stay in neutral.
Car starter owns, it's very useful especially up here in the winter. :D

why leave it running and then get out then turn it off. just make sure its in neutral and the brakes on then you should be fine. my alarm as the options i just need to get the bypass. NOStradamus, what type of alarm do you have

no, you HAVE TO get out and then turn it off, so the SYSTEM knows that it's in park brake and neutral. If you open the door again it disables. It's basically a safety feature so ur car doesnt end up in some house or some shit. And I have some autostart alarm/starter, I paid about 450CDN with install.

its not very expensive, shops just cannot install it for you, you have to do it yourself (or find someone who will do it anyway). the car doesnt "drive around by itself," of course, but it can jump and hit whatevers sitting in front of it if you leave it in gear.

Yea, thats what I meant earlier. It can lunge at whatever is in front of it.

No, you just get the system that I have and it is IMPOSSIBLE for the car to lunge forward after you start it with the remote. 8)

holla. isn't this a repost? or is it a thread from the dead? most states it's illigal for car shops to install it. but if you get caught with it you cna't really get busted if they don't know who installed it. i think this is a nice feature. but i always leave my car in 2nd. my sis has an auto and has remote start uses it every monring. but my car warms up pretty fast so i don't really car much. only in the absolute frozne snow cold does it take a while.

www.Compustar.org Thats the website to the company that makes mine it works great and has for over a year now. I installed it myself. it has that ready mode he was talking about but mine you just pull the parking brake, turn off the key( the engin stays running) get out close the door and it cuts off and is in ready mode until you get ready to remote start it.
