when doing a swap, how do you know what ecu to use? Even when doing a frankenstien motor. Is there certain facts based on the engine that coresponds to a certain ecu? any info on what the ecu controls. what differes from one to another. an how to decide on the right one for ur swap. thanks

use the ECU that is made for the head, but if your car is OBDII and you put a OBDI engine in it you may have to use a OBDII ECU to be streetable depending on where you live.

like if you want to build a LS/VTEC you would use the ECU matching to what ever head you use.

Some times you can use almost any ECU, but there is usualy only one or two that will give you the optuim power and stay streetable. like the ZC can use just about any non-vtec ecu, but a JDM ZC ECU would work best. and I've heard that using a VTEC-E ecu, from a VX or HX, can help you pass emissions if you have a DOHC VTEC engine, not sure about that though.
