View Full Version : Swapping in a B18B motor in my 91teg

I was looking to replace my B18A with a B18B in the near future and just found out a friend of mine has all the tools available to do this at his work and the room. From my understading the motor should just fit in correctly without replacing the motor mounts and the tranny can bolt right in. What else do I need to replace in doing this and does anyone have any web links, books or recommendations in doing this. I want to collect as much information as possible before I do this. Thanks.

.....you realize they're the same exact motor, right

From what I have read the B18A and the B18B are the same, just from different generations of Integras. I was more looking for any books, or weblinks on what needs to be done.

No it still runs, but has a 138K on it and has developed a ticking sound.

do a valve adjustment.

have checked its compression?

if theres nothing wrong with it other than the high mileage, theres no point in swapping the same motor in.

not that it really matters since non vtec motors are cheap as dirt and common, but still, ur better off buying the motor, have it built, and then drop it in when ready.

Well I am in no hurry to replace the motor, just looking for ideasand some advice on what to do. If I can rebuild the motor for under a grand and it be reliable and maybe even faster, let me know whats needed. Thanks
