no such thing as a "h23a1 vtec"..the h23a1 is a dohc non-vtec prelude engine, that was only released in the US in 4th gen-SI/SE preludes(92-96)
specs:
2258 cc displacement(largest of all preludes)
9.8-1 compression
160hp@5800/156lb-ft.@4500
you can however make a h22/h23a1 hybrid eng.

ahhh, the non believers....
it came in the 2000+ accord sir-t wagons. after converting, (from japanese system to american) it equates to about 7ft-lbs more torque. It also has approx 197hp (after converting ps to hp)
It doesnt rev as high as the jdm h22a possibly because it has a longer stroke and lack of additional oil injectors.
It has less peak hp than the jdm h22a but a higher peak torque but at a lower rpm.
I believe they run around USD $3200 from memory.

from a different source it says theres about 2-3 ft-lbs difference and no difference between jdm h22a and h23a vtec.
JDM h23 vtec-
torque: 22.5 kg/m = 162.74....163 lbs/ft
HP: 197
JDM H22-
Torque: 161 lbs/ft
Hp: 197

go here: http://www.accordwagonclub.com/6gen_info.htm
if you are too lazy, ill just post what it says here...
The sixth generartion wagon was never produced stateside due to the lack of interest in the wagon. In the fall of 1996, Honda of Japan decided to move the production of the Accord Wagon back to Japan because 66% of the production was being exported to Japan. As with the fifth generation wagon, there are more aftermarket parts available for the wagon than the sedan or coupe.
The body style was then changed somewhat from the fifth generation Accords. However, the biggest change was the new available H23A DOHC VTEC engine that was only available in the SiR wagon. The SiR wagon was also available in two models, FWD and AWD.
The Japanese version included several things not available in the US, including automatic climate control (in all versions except the EX II), Bose stereo system w/ CD Changer in the SiR. In fact, I have seen a Japanese Honda catalog for accessories available for the Accord and it includes an active matrix LCD screen that can be used to watch TV, or satellite navigation, performance exhausts and suspension systems too. We know we have said it before, and we will say it again, but the Japanese keep the best cars for themselves.
