I'm going to attempt to build a race car and I'm going to start with a stock 5.0 and go with the paxton supercharger kit. i've been told you can produce serious hp from that setup. can you guys give me some insight into this? I don't really know a ton and am really trying to learn. Can you help? :???:

im assuming you have a mustang? ya the paxton is known for mad power, but is a little on the expensive side to install, and have known for excessive heat (but can be fixed with a good intercooler)

Actually I don't have anything yet I'm trying to do as much research as possible before I go spending money like I know this is going to cost but I was looking for some numbers and experience to tell me if this can be done with a stock 5.0 engine or not

On pump gas you could probably run 10 pounds of intercooled boost reliably on a stock 302. But if you're going to be building a race car, you're probably going to be staying at higher RPM's, so why would you stay with a stock everything else?

i gotta agree.........but if still insist on keeping a stock block,if you can pick up the holley sytemax package.........it'll help you and your engine.......it'll also give you a good 70+extra ponies

Actually, I didn't mind going with a non-stock engine, in fact I would prefer a non-stock. However this is my first race car and I don't want to go all out on some 1500hp beast and not be able to drive it and crash and die or something. I'm just getting some info. Thanks.

paxton and vortech have merged, but they're still producing different products. they're just gonna share some of the ideas that will help benefit both of them. but they will still make distinctively different superchargers.

Ozzcom, Paxton is a great brand for street use, but for track use I prefer an ATI Procharger. The ATI has an intercooler and is used by the better pro drag racers that run in the 7 second 1/4 mile range. Also, last I heard, Paxton doesn't make a reverse rotation model of the Novi 3000, and that is making some of the guys that use Paxtons switch to the ATI.
