For those of you that know how the hatch on a civic works u will know what i am talking about.

I wanna know if it is possible to make the hood open without having to prop it up wiht that rod. Can it open up and just stay up by itself b using those rod things that keep the hatch on a civic open?

Those gas pressurized bars. I can't remember what they're called.

One of my friend actually has those on the hood of his Integra. He searched through a couple scrapyards and found the hydraulics from the tailgate of an old minivan, cut the extending metal rod down a little bit, and bolted them on the side of the engine bay. It can be done, it just depends if you can find the hydraulics that are the right size for your hood.
