View Full Version : Civic Strange Noise Help

01-25-2006, 11:30 PM
Hi All

I have a 90 civic automatic, that is making a fairly loud ticking noise on acceleration. Kind of sounds like a diesel engine but only when accelerating. The noise follows the pace of the engine, and is the loudest when the engine is under high load. Like just before shifting to the next gear. When I am coasting in fourth and the engine is under little load there is no noise at all. Otherwise the engine runs smoothly and transmission shifts properly.

Any Ideas what this could be? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

check the small things first, but could be the beginning of big end trouble. try listening to top and bottom end to narrow down the area its coming from.
