Well replace mids and highs get a couple of sub woofersthen your pretty much done. You will also need a amp kit and if you have a factory deck you will then need an l.o.c (line output converter) if you want then you can put a 300 watt amp in to run your mids and highs but if you have a factory deck i would recomend gettin a aftermarket deck.

recipe for 1 economy sound system:
1 head unit (cd player) (under $200)
- detachable face is a great feature
- 180+ watts is also a +
- 4 channels to run 4 speakers
1 amplifier (under $200)
- 400+ watts is ok
- 2 channel is fine
1 pair of rear speakers (under $70)
- whatever fits
1 pair of front speakers (under $70)
- whatever fits
1-2 subwoofers (under $200)
To install all of this yourself - I recomend "The Car Stereo Cookbook", which you can pick up at your local library.
I got my 208 watt sony head unit (display model) for $99 + 4 year warranty ($40) + installation ($48) at Magnolia HiFi, my rear speakers pioneer 100 watt two-way from the neighbors for free.... and some 4'' pioneers for my doors for $34 off of etronics.com

First thing you need is a high powered deck, which usally go for around $200 and then run two three way mids in the front and then a pair of two ways in the back. As for the trunk a pair of decent 10" like Fosgate's. and then an entey level PG amp and wire the shit up yourself.

I recomend that you get someone that knows how to install wire because the type of wire you have for your system really makes a diffrence and dont go cheap and use like 18 gauge or some shit like that. at least get 10 gauge but 8 would be better. and for a good sound system go with 0 gauge. that shit was a pain in the ass to install.
If you get a deck make sure it has sub control so you can ajust the volume of the amp right off the deck, thats one of the best feature's on my deck.

Or get a high current amp. And then you can adjust the bass from a nob.

Get a deck that pushes 50watts or more per channel, then get one 10",12" subwoofer, and an amp to push it, and get some decent speakers(Bostons). If you install it yourself your looking at about $500-$600 give or take depending on what deck you choose to go with, I suggest an Alpine, I seen one that pushes 52watts per channel for $149. I mean this is the cheapest and most simplest I could think about. :roll_eye:

hey let me tell you something im more into car audio then racing
first off ive done like 6 installs for my friends........bad ass systems
you need to get a radio head thats a must if your gonna run gone good mids and highs you need to get one that puts out aat least 45 watts per speaker
the speakers themselves are up to u i sugesst trying to get pio or a good name brand....
don't worry to much about the replacing the stock speakers to much you can get away with putting in ok speakers for now...
i suggest getting a couple of 10's for now pioneer has the impps which are pretty cheap and sound good.( make sure the box you get is the right cubic feet though)
and amp to power them is gonna run you a lil more but you could get a DHD, lightning audio or another cheap amp ( ireally don't deal with those to mush nut they are good for powering a couple 10's they last.
now to really get the mids and highs i suggest another smaller amp (200 watt or more) and get a componet set.... polk audio has a pretty good cheap set i comes with the tweeters and woofers.
i really suggest if this is the first time you install to do it with saomeone who knows what there doing cause it will get a lil trickys also save yourself the head ache and spend the 15 20 bucks and buy a wire harnes for your car ( so that you don't have to splice all the speaker connections yourself behind the head unit.) your better off just paying some one or place to do it cause if your gonna do all this in one day its gonna b hard cause you don't know what to do...
if you need anything at all email me or instant message me @ DJXFL@aol.com..
that goes for anyone if i left anything out tell me so i could help u out.... take my word i like for audio im a dj and do this shit all the time if you want i could look up some prices for you.... email me....
good luck

yeah you could always hook it up to your factory head unit but then you have the hassle of running a loc. and then you lose sound and sound quality. But if you want some beats right now and dont have the money for a GOOD headunit you could always buy a loc. they are like 15-20 bucks.
