I need to know a decent amp or how much power I will need to feed my 2 MTX 6000 10's as they are rated at 500W each, 250RMS each. Is the SONY Xplod 760W amp 150RMS X 2 enough power to feed these 2 subs. Do MTX's really need a high power amp or will a cheaper low powered amp do the trick and allow them to sound really decent????

i just fried a 600 watt kenwood amp with two 12" mtx 4000's. amp lasted about a year and a half. think i'm gonna go 800watt something else this time so the amp doesn't have to work as hard. as for getting a sony explode amp. i heard they suck. go for mtx, kicker, alpine v12, or a bigger fosgate punch amp. i would've said kenwood's aren't bad for the price, but not any more.

first off, if your subs are 500 watts each, then the rms is probably around 250. i had a 600 watt profile cl600 on my two 12's with 200 rms. and i blew the shit out of that in abotu 2 months, so dont get that amp. but back to your question. anything around 600-800 peak powered amp should be fine, if you dont get a shitty brand. oh yeah and if you plan on having your system cranked most of the time. stock alternators only put out not more than 60 amps. so in about 6 months, plan on buying a new alternator, because it will go. to be safe, go out and get a new one, i got a 100 amp alternator for 100 bucks. easy to put in.
